America the Beautiful

Hello, everyone, I am back!

I am currently job searching in Beantown. It's pretty tough in this economy but I am trying to use this time wisely and keep the faith like many people around our great nation.

Speaking of the good ol' U.S. of A, I've established a new future goal to help satisfy my wanderlust.

A roadtrip across America!

For as long as I can remember I have loved politics, U.S. history, apple pie and just about all things American. Just the idea of reliving the history of the Battle of Gettysburg in Pennsylvania, taking in the wonder that is the Famous Corn Palace of Mitchell, South Dakota, or checking out the music scene in Austin, Texas makes me want to pack my bags and camera now.

I can't wait until I can pull out out my Rand McNally map and get out on the open road!

Old School Traveling --- Unplugged

Do you remember back when you had to book your big vacation through a travel agent? How about when you sent off a postcard to update folks at home about the latest vacation adventure? Can you imagine that we once had to lug around multiple rolls of film with ONLY 24 or 36 pictures? Pictures, that we had to WAIT until we got home to develop???

To those of you who aren't old enough to remember this fairly recent but almost forgotten era, you can continuing watching the latest episode of Gossip Girl or listening to Justin Beiber ---perhaps after learning a little about vacations that were once taken sans Facebook,Twitter and (gasp) Iphones.

On her blog Chicky Bus, avid travler Lisa discusses travel in the "Dark Ages" a.k.a vacations through the 1990s. She ponders the ultimate question: are travel experiences enhanced or made worse by our ability to stay constantly connected?

As a new blogger, admitted email addict, avid fan of social media and as someone who unabashedly loves my Ipod, net book, cell phone, Kindle and digital camera -- I land solidly in the camp that argues that elements of the digital age have mainly made our travel experiences better.
