Camel and Pyramids and Falafel -- OH MY!

Today was my first full day on a tour of Egypt with Intrepid Travel. We are a group of twelve - coming from England, New Zealand, England, Turkey, Brazil and a few other places. Our tour guide, Hoda is a Cairo native.

Last night we visited the local bazar, mosque and had a great dinner of Fool's Eggplant and Chicken Swarma pie.

Today was a full day. We left for the pyramid's at 8:30am. First, we hopped on camels, which I had to hold onto for dear life as they went from sitting to standing position. They aren't as comfortable as horses and a bit dirter. That said it was a lot of fun - and riding around the pryamids on a camel?... it was like a scene of "the Mummy." Afterwards, I ventured inside the smaller of the two pyramids - which though fun (if you are not claustrophobic) is nothing to write home about. We grabbed lunch at a local falafel stand and saw Tutenkamen's mask and treasure at the Egyptian museum. We are checking out soon and heading out on an overnight train to Aswan.

(Longer post to come when internet access and time are plentiful!)
