Venice

From Week 3 Berlin and Venice

We arrived in Venice early on Thursday morning. The contrast from Berlin was more than tangible. Seriously, like night and day, the people were friendly vs. ultra reserved, the sky blue rather than overcast.
Do not get me wrong, Germany was great, such a learning experience ... social studies class come to life, but I felt myself relax went we finally sat down in our first cafe in ITALIA.
I am not sure if it was the warm weather or the water or the menus with multiple items that I could recognize and knew I loved (in Germany it was only schnitznel) but it felt like HOME.
The first day in Venice, Steph and I explored the city the right way... wandering. On the island it is hard to get lost. The narrow streets are filled with tourists, locals, churches, piazzas, drying laundry, moms in impossibly high heels and waiters play soccer (futbol) with kids in piazzas (seriously we saw one when we were drinking beer and espresso at a cafe).
Today after some more exploring we got some fresh mozzarella, brie, bread, olives, grapes and white wine and chilled near the Grand Canal for two hours.

BELLISMA.

  1. I'm so happy for you and a bit jealous that you are there and I am not! One of the most amazing things about Venice is how quiet it is, especially at night-no cars, just church bells! Can't wait to see what's next for you. Have fun!

  2. Dad and I were talking about our stay in Venice. I also been reading Paniigirl's report and writing comments. How was your gondola ride? More pictures, please.
    Enjoy!
