The Original Drive Thru?

This small window once served as one of Florence's oldest wine bars. Back in the Middle Ages, war was rampant as was disease. So, in an effort to prevent violence and the further spread of disease, very little physical contact was encouraged.

To use this window you walked up to the little door, knocked, ordered your wine, gave the barkeep your money and, presto your wine was given to you through the little portal.

Perhaps one of the world's first Drive (by horse?) Thrus
.

  1. You have to go and find I Due Fratellini-it's this little spot next to a wall where 2 brothers make sandwiches and serve wine and you eat just standing there and there's a little shelf to hold your wine tumbler-it's great!
